A man was today being quizzed over an execution-style murder in Leigh.

Armed police made early morning raids on homes in Cricketfield Grove, Leigh, and Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet.

A 31-year-old Benfleet man was arrested on suspicion of murder. A man, 31, and woman, 32, both from Leigh, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

All three were being quizzed at police stations around the county.

Dean Boshell, 24, was found dead with a single shotgun wound to the back of his head in allotments in Manchester Drive, Leigh, in 2001.

After the discovery of the body, police released details of his distinctive tattoos and clothes in an effort to piece together his movements before his death.
