A fruit grower has tasted success as sweet as his finest apples and raspberries at the BBC Gardeners' Live exhibition.
Sweet success - fruit grower Will Sibley Picture: STEVE O'CONNELL
Will Sibley, 51, of Grasmead Avenue, Leigh, was awarded a prestigious silver medal by the Royal Horticultural Society for a six metre by six metre fruit garden he exhibited in Birmingham.
The judges were particularly impressed by the variety of shapes he cultivated from apple, pear and plum trees.
Mr Sibley, who owns several fruit nurseries in Kent, explained: "The techniques were developed in Versailles in the 1700s, to give character to the garden during winter months."
