A four year old boy has been nominated for an award for his quick thinking which helped rescue his mum after she collapsed with an epileptic seizure.

Brendan Denning from Silver End raised the alarm when his mum Vivien fell to the ground and lay unconscious in freezing weather in a park, on their way to his nursery school.

Now Brendan has had his name put forward for the Local Hero category of the Essex Achievement Awards, run by the Essex Chronicle in conjunction with health campaigner Susie Cornell.

Vivien said, "I feel that Brendan deserves an award for the bravery he showed.

"We were walking through our local park in the morning to catch the bus, it was nine o'clock and there was no-one else around.

"I suddenly collapsed with an epileptic seizure which Brendan had never witnessed before.

"He tried to wake me up and when he realised he couldn't he ran off shouting and screaming to try to raise the alarm.

"He spotted some ladies in the distance and ran to them. They thought he was a lost little boy, but Brendan explained to them that his mummy was poorly and he couldn't wake me up."

Brendan showed the women where his mother was an they called the ambulance.

The search is on for other brave, caring and community minded people like Brendan to be nominated to receive the recognition they deserve.
