Hundreds of well wishers turned out to bid a final farewell to the Odeon cinema, Southend.
Dignitaries from Southend Council and former staff and patrons attended a party at O'Neill's in Southend.
The building is set to be demolished in August. The theatre, which opened in 1935, will make way for the hi-tech University of Essex.
