Young rugby players in Colchester are set to benefit from a sponsorship boost.
RMC Eastern, MacDonalds, and Essex-based solicitors Birkett Long have each donated £1,000 to Colchester Minis, the junior section of Colchester Rugby Club.
The £3,000 is then topped up with £2,000 with matched funding from the rugby authorities.
The club's Andrew Sarek said: "We have around 200 children aged between five and 12 years who will benefit from this cash.
"Much of it will be used for recruiting and developing coaches, all of whom are volunteers, for this age group.
"Our coaches are often parents who get involved with the club, or who used to play themselves.
"We send them on training courses that teach them about becoming referees and developing their coaching skills, as well as covering important areas such as first aid and dealing with injuries, opportunities for disabled youngsters, or child protection and equity issues."
