Midfield man Jon Keeling hopes that signing for Canvey Island as they prepare for their first season at Nationwide Conference level will boost his bid to make more international appearances.
Keeling, a long-time Ryman Premier servant of Thurrock, played alongside Gulls' stars Steve Ward, John Kennedy and Chris Duffy for the England National Game XI in Belgium last year.
He said: "I'd love to play more games at that level - and feel that joining Canvey will offer me my best chance.
"I know most of the Canvey lads and know that we're going to have a really strong squad this season."
