Hi-tech students are going ga-ga over their new radio station.

The addition to Tendring Technology College, Frinton, is giving youngsters the chance to work with new equipment and broadcast live to fellow pupils.

Radio Ga-Ga is at the moment being broadcast over speakers during lunchtime and at other times on the school's intranet.

But plans are in the pipeline to let them loose with worldwide coverage on the internet.

Phil Kirkman, head of music, said the initiative was giving music technology students the chance to get hands-on experience and helping with information and communication technology and how things are broadcast.

He said: "It is a great way of teaching them more about music and media in the real world and giving them some practical experience."
