Benfleet yacht club member Daniel Henderson enjoyed an outstanding session on the water in the Eastern Regional championships.
The 13-year-old achieved a brace of first positions, three runners-up finishes and a third place, which earned the teenager an overall first place at the event organised by the Royal Yacht Association.
Castle Point sport council's Kevin McBrearty was delighted to hear about Daniel's progress.
He said: "Daniel is in between boats in terms of size and had to borrow a boat a class bigger than he is used to. It would seem that it suited him well.
"He has a lot of potential and is being helped along by his father who is also a member of the yacht club."
