Angry residents from Tolleshunt D'Arcy met on Tuesday to discuss launching a protest campaign against a proposed phone mast for the village.
Scores of people turned out to the meeting of the parish council at the village hall to condemn the plans for a 12 metre mast before the issue is put before the district council on Monday.
Telecommunications company Orange is seeking to put a the mast at the junction of Festival Gardens and Beckingham Road. It has been designed to match the existing telegraph poles.
Although the mast already has planning permission, granted under prior approval laws which means certain masts automatically get planning permission, the district council can object on the grounds of siting or appearance.
