Chairman of the Greek community of Southend and district, Andreas Anastasiou watched the big match at home, in Southchurch Boulevard, Southend, with sons Chritos and Pany, plus his father Pany Senior.
They were over the moon when centre back Traianos Dellas scored a headed goal in the 15th minute of extra time to win the semi-final against the Czech Republic.
He said: "It was great. Our manager Otto Rehhagel is pretty cunning. He pushed all our players up in the last minute because he knew we couldn't concede a goal and we scored."
He predicted Sunday's final would be close, but was confident the Greek team was good enough to beat hosts Portugal.
