Land at a dilapidated seafront fort could be sold or leased, it has been revealed.
Bosses at Tendring Council are debating what to do with their share of Beacon Hill Fort, Harwich.
They are discussing whether to get rid of the land, which has added to hopes that a private company will restore the fort.
Some investors have already expressed an interest in ploughing £125,000 into a renovation project there.
Beacon Hill Fort has appeared on the council's list of projects for this month.
Cabinet members will need to decide whether the portion of land owned by Tendring Council should be leased.
Mike Page, public relations manager for Tendring Council, said: "A report is being prepared for cabinet.
"It will thoroughly examine the options for this site, which will include the possibility of leasing to a third party."
