Bargain-hungry home buyers are camping out to snap up 40 ex-Army houses - more than three weeks before they go on sale.

The three and four bedrooms homes, in Kohima Road, off Layer Road, don't go on sale until July 23, but already 19 people have set up camp in tents and caravans to be first in the queue.

Annington Homes, which is selling the properties, doesn't even open its sales office until this Monday.

Prices for the exMOD properties start at £129,152 for three bedroom houses and £138,652 for four bedroom houses, but actual plot prices will not be known until the end of July.

Spokesperson for Annington Homes, Susie Tydeman, said the homes are being sold on a first come first served basis, prompting people to start queuing so early.
