Essex are being linked with an "unknown" Aussie fast bowler as a replacement for legspinner Danish Kaneria.
His replacement is Paul Rolfe, who was a teammate of Andy Flower when the Zimbabwean was with South Australia last winter.
Rolfe made his first-class debut for his State side against Western Australia in 2000 and has earned Under-19 honours for his country.
In 33 first-class matches to date he has taken 108 wickets at an average of just under 29 runs each.
Kaneria has now linked up with a Pakistan training camp in Lahore to prepare for the Asian Cup tournament.
