An Essex professor is to receive a prestigious award.
Prof Maurice Kimmitt, of the Physics Centre at Essex University, is the second UK scientist to receive the Kenneth J Button Prize.
He will attend the 29th International Conference on Infra-red and Millimetre Waves in Germany, to receive the prize.
The award, which was established in 1990, is awarded annually by the conference for "outstanding contributions to the science of the electromagnetic spectrum".
