Colchester United will not be able to call on the services of Kem Izzet for Saturday's crucial FA Cup first round clash at Mansfield Town.

Izzet is still struggling with an ankle injury and has ruled himself out of making a comeback.

The pocket-battleship midfielder would be a perfect replacement for departed loanee Neil Danns, who returned to Blackburn Rovers on Monday.

However, he admitted that he was not able to grasp the opportunity available to him.

"I'm not going to be fit for Saturday, I'm hoping that I will be good for next week," said Izzet.

"I've been working hard on it and the ankle injury has been slowly improving."
