YOUNG, gifted and talented footballers are invited to take part in a special community event.

Colchester United Community Sports Trust is aiming the event at children in school Years 1, 2 and 3.

The session will take place at the Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, in Boadicea Way, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday April 14.

Scouts from Colchester United’s Advanced Coaching Programme and Centre of Excellence will also be on hand to assess the youngsters.

Sean Hillier, schools sports and progression pathways manager for the trust, said: “This is a great opportunity for talented young players to show off their skills. If they impress the scouts they could be signed to either the Advanced Coaching Programme or the Centre of Excellence helping them to develop their skills further.”
