Feelings are running high in Wivenhoe following the decision of Wivenhoe and District Sporting Facilities Trust to lock Wivenhoe Town Football Club out of its ground at Broad Lane.
Wivenhoe Town Council has provided financial support to the football club in the past, and we believe the club should continue to play a role in the life of our town.
We are committed to a solution which enables the club to remain based in Wivenhoe, which keeps the trust’s land in use as a community facility and which regularises the financial situation. But this type of solution can only be reached, if the parties concerned are prepared to communicate constructively.
We are delighted Colchester Council is taking steps to facilitate a dialogue.
We are prepared to assist in this process, and in the interests of everyone in Wivenhoe, we urge both the club and the trust to come to the table and to do all they can to reach to an agreement.
