Essex overseas star Danish Kaneria has vowed to make the newly promoted county a force to be reckoned with in the First Division of the County Championship this summer.

The lively Pakistani leg-spinner has already declared his availability for the new county season and believes he can improve on last year’s stellar campaign when he topped the Essex bowling averages with 75 wickets in all competitions at an outstanding 23.69 average.

“I will try my level best to do something to help us win a trophy and try to keep up the expectation of the captain and my team,” Kaneria said.

“I will try my level best to make a big difference in the First Division.

“I am wanting to play in every match for Essex."
