TRAIN services were disrupted across Essex after thieves stole cables from a railway line in Marks Tey.

Signalling cables were dug up near Marks Tay overnight on Friday Network Rail said a reduced service was run between London and Norwich on Saturday and services near Marks Tey were delayed by about an hour.

Services between Harwich and Liverpool Street in London were suspended on Saturday, with trains running from Colchester only.

National Express East Anglia said investigations into the theft are taking place.

Services were also disrupted last weekend after cables were stolen near Chelmsford.
