I was horrified to read about the attacks on Colchester taxi drivers (Gazette, December 8).
But, having recently visited London, I am amazed that it is not mandatory for all taxis to be like the London cabs and have a security screen separating the driver from the passengers in the back of the vehicle.
The council is always introducing new rules and regulations and I think it is about time it did something to ensure the safety of these drivers, especially with the Christmas festivities nearly upon us.
I know if my husband was a taxi driver, I would be very worried indeed!
