I am pleased the court ruled against allowing the residents of Brightlingsea Haven to live all-year round in their holiday homes (Gazette, December 7).
As far as I remember, it was a stipulation of the planning process that the dwellings would be non-residential and vacated for a certain period.
The people who bought these dwellings were well aware of the stipulation before they bought them.
Now they want to live in them full time, they are claiming ignorance of the law, and, as we all know, ignorance is no defence.
There are very good reasons for not allowing them to be fully residential.
We do not want it to become a shanty town like some holiday villages have.
