I read the most recent letter from Colchester councillor Martin Goss Letters, December 4) with much interest.
Mile End and Braiswick are the fastest growing areas of Colchester and suffer from the worst traffic congestion.
I, therefore, find a certain amount of irony in a local councillor who has overseen an enormous house building programme within his own ward lecturing other councillors on building on green spaces.
People in Mile End and Braiswick want action against the over-development of their areas, but Mr Goss and the Liberal Democrats do not have the political influence to deal with this most important of issues.
Unlike Mr Goss, I am not just going to talk about dealing with over-development, if elected as Colchester’s next Member of Parliament, I will take action.
I will vote to scrap the regional assembly and the regional spatial strategy, which place unrealistic housing targets on our town.
I will also fight against any proposed development that does not offer adequate support for our town’s infrastructure.
Colchester has had enough of talk, it is time for action.
