FIREFIGHTERS rescued a boy who had hurt himself while playing.

The crew from Colchester were brought into help the Ambulance service bring the youngster out of his Magdalen Street home.

He was hurt while in a first floor bedroom and complaining of neck pain.

Leading Firefighter Gavin Ellis from Colchester fire station said the boy had suspected neck and spinal injuries.

The aerial ladder was used to bring him out of the window as the staircase was too narrow to get him out on the backboard. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital but found to be unharmed and later sent home.
