VOLUNTEERS joined fire service staff to help create a new home for rescue dog Darcy.
The border collie has been looked up in kennels in Stanway under quarantine after she returned from a mission in Indonesia where she helped in the rescue efforts following the Sumatran earthquake in October.
But now she can spend most of her days in the company of her trainer and owner John Ball after Defra inspectors approved Dacy’s new home.
A special kennel has been constructed at the headquarters of the Urban Search and Rescue Team, near Colchester, to enable Darcy to continue her training during the day. The dog will have to return to kennels in the evening.
