LION Walk shopping centre in Colchester will replay its Christmas laser light show after a power failure cut the display short during the town’s lights switch-on.

The laser show only ran for five minutes before the electricity supply cut out.

The shows will be rerun on next Wednesday at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm in the Lion Walk Church car park.

The display was part of Colchester town centre’s Christmas lights switch-on.

It was also to celebrate the completion of the second phase of the shopping centre’s redevelopment.

Paul Bentham, who runs the centre, confirmed it was still in discussions with a number of retailers about taking over a 20,000 sq ft store in Culver Street East.

H&M was one of the names in contention, but it was announced this week it would be taking over the premises vacated by Woolworths.

Mr Bentham said: “We have got clothes retailer Bank coming next week to look at the site and Next coming the week after.

“We hope to make an announcment very early in the new year.”
