Heritage park has its critics I AM astounded at the arrogance of Roger Drury’s letter (Letters, November 23) when he claims “nobody, and I mean nobody, objects to a heritage park”.
This is obviously untrue on a scale similar to claims for the Visual Arts Facility.
He then goes further by suggesting an alternative site, outside of his own area.
He refers to the Memorial Avenue by which I assume he means Avenue of Remembrance, showing he has little knowledge of the district.
If he had, he would know this is a flood plain, 70 per cent of which is owned by the people of Colchester, having been bought some years ago by the council for use as public open space.
Furthermore, when the proposed 17,000 dwellings are built, bringing with them thousands of extra vehilces, part may be needed for the dual carriageway that will be required from Clingoe Hill to the Lexden A12 link.
