What a great idea from Colchester Council to get the people that drop litter to make them go round and pick some up.

This can only be thought of as a great brainwave on the council’s behalf.

I can only see one drawback to this wonderful scheme and that is to actually see someone being caught dropping litter in the first place.

I have seen people walk out of fast food shops and before they are hardly out the door, they drop the bag the food was placed in.

Stand at any bus stop in town and you will see someone smoking. When the bus they want arrives, they drop the cigarette butt on the ground, even when there are bins for cigarette ends.

Yet I have never seen one person stopped and fined or even spoken to about it.
