A BUTCHERS has been commended for its sausages and pies.
Chapman Butchers, of the Triangle Shopping Centre, in Frinton, picked up gold awards for its products from the Meat and Livestock Commission.
Darren Moss received the award for his steak pies, at the commission’s regional award ceremony, in Peterborough.
Keith Newman picked up a gold award for his cajun, pork and sage sausages.
Matthew Woods, owner of Chapman Butchers, said: “This is the first time we have won a prize for our pies, although we have won 20 or 30 prizes for our sausages and burgers in the past.
“We make the pastry ourselves and they are handmade with good meat.
“Many butchers only make these types of pies for competitions, but we make them to sell and are proud of that.”
The pies will also be on sale at Mr Woods’s new fish-and-chip shop, Frinton Fisheries, due to open in Kings Avenue, Holland-on-Sea, soon.
