THE last exhibition of the season at the Naze Tower, in Walton, looks set to go out on an arty high.

Running until November 1, before the historic tower shuts its doors for the winter, this season’s art show has a feast of local and nationally renowned talent.

Established artists, such as Glynn Thomas, and emerging talent, like Dave Gates and White Designs, all have work in the various rooms.

Glynn, who lives in Suffolk, specialises in illustration and printmaking. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. His exhibition of original etchings has a strong maritime theme and includes a new work depicting the Naze Tower.

Also appearing is Colchester-based Gary Winterford, whose large-scale canvasses are inspired by the relationship between abstracted space and the human form; Katie Millard, a Suffolk-based artist who creates watercolours that capture nature, and Dave Gates, an exponent of pinhole photography.

These exhibitions are over the top four floors of the old navigational building.

In the tearooms on the first and second floors there is a mixed show of work by Jenny Reynish, Peter Fryer, Miranda Boxall, Robert Mowle, Ellie Haseldine, Nigel Pepper, White Designs and Silver Hammer Crafts.

Colchester’s Jenny Reynish is a freelance illustrator whose work is primarily concerned with journeys, both literal and metaphorical, while David White, of White Designs, also based in Colchester, has been designing and hand-making jewellery since he was 14.

One of the more striking images of the coastline is provided by Robert Mowle, who lives in Dovercourt. He paints as well as takes atmospheric photographs of the coast around him.A versatile artist, he also specialises in raku pottery.
