Eyesores blight historic town

This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald.

I felt I must write to find out why the stretch of Roman wall coming down Mersea Road towards the St Botolph’s roundabout seems to be forgotten.

It’s been held up with corrugated sheeting, and looks an absolute disgrace. What an eyesore to tourists entering the town.

The same eyesore greets them as they enter from across the East Bay bridge, with the property on the corner of Brook Street, windows smashed and covered with graffiti.

We should be proud of our town, but I, and I’m sure lots like me, are finding that very hard.

Come on councillors, do something about it!
