WIVENHOE Funny Farm comedy club is lining up another top programme of stand-ups, starting off with a high-profile Edinburgh preview.

That’s going to be given by an up-and-coming star of the UK comedy circuit, Marcel Lucont, who bills himself as France’s premier misanthropist and lover.

The self-published, self-appointed award-winning author of several books, Marcel’s works include his own European travelogue, Menage A Cinq, and his account of a recent trip to Los Angeles, Diagnosis: Merde.

Winner of an Editors’ Choice award at Edinburgh, as well as being runner-up in last year’s London Laugh competition, Marcel states that he will be living in England for as long as he can put up with our moaning.

His first full-length show, Marcel Lucont: Sexual Metro, will be at the Edinburgh Festival next month. But for a sneaky preview go to Wivenhoe Town Football Club this Thursday, when support will be from comedy musical duo Adams and Rea.

Other Funny Farm highlights for the rest of the year include Juliet Meyers and Adnan Ahmed on August 27; Mary Bourke on September 24 and John Newton on October 29.

Wivenhoe Funny Farm is at Wivenhoe Town Football Club, in Broad Lane. Shows start at 8pm and admission, payable on the door, is priced £6 and £4 for concessions.
