THE Gazette can reveal details of MPs’ allowance claims as the storm over the expenses scandal continues.

We offered MPs the chance to take part in our amnesty and own up to what they have claimed before it is officially made public.

North Essex Tory MP Bernard Jenkin, above, admitted using the public purse to buy a flat-screen TV and to pay for window cleaning and gardening.

Bob Russell, Lib Dem MP for Colchester, claimed £10,963 to cover his living costs in London in the year up to April 2008, but less the following year. He said he had nothing to apologise for in his expenses.

Meanwhile, Tory Sir Alan Haselhurst, MP for Halstead, defended a series of claims including paying a gardener for eight hours a week.
