MOTORISTS faced long rush hour delays after a motorcyclist was injured in a crash on the Avenue of Remembrance in Colchester.
The smash, involving a motorcycle and a silver Ford Focus car, took place at about 4.45pm yesterday, between the Spring Lane roundabout and Westway roundabout.
The road was closed both ways at Colne Bank Avenue and there was heavy traffic on the surrounding roads as commuters found alternative routes home.
Stanway road traffic policing unit said the male motorcyclist was taken to Colchester General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
PC Alan Discombe said the woman driving the car was arrested at the scene on suspicion of an unrelated offence.
He said: “A motorcyclist has got a slight injury and has been taken to hospital to be checked over.”
