VETERANS commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Fleet Air Arm, which represents the flying arm of the Royal Navy.
The poignant occasion was marked with a wreath laying ceremonty at Harwich Quay.
Members of Harwich and Dovercourt branches of the Merchant Navy Association, Royal Naval Association, and the Royal Air Force Association, turned out for the event.
Benson Langley, pipe major for the Harwich Royal British Legion Pipe Band, played hymns at the ceremony.
Kate Wilson, secretary and president of the Harwich Merchant Navy Association, said: “Considering what the weather was like, I was really delighted with everybody who turned up and our thanks goes to everybody who braved the weather.”
