TRADERS are hoping a £5million boost for Colchester’s Lion Walk shopping centre could help the town buck the credit crunch.
Conservationists and planners have been working for months on the plans for the site and work could get under way in a few weeks.
New owners LaSalle want to push ahead with the work to attract big name stores to the shopping area which had 5.8 million visitors in 2008.
The scheme is due to go before borough councillors on May 21.
