Sea Cadets have been praised for rescuing two men.
The youngsters, from the TS Rebel Cadet Sea School, based at Titchmarsh Marina, Walton, plucked the men from the sea off Felixstowe.
The cadets were practising on racing vessel Smokey Too on Saturday when they saw a sailing ship capsize.
The TS Rebel team went into a “man overboard” drill and pulled the men to safety.
TS Rebel skipper Lee Thurlow and Petty Officer Dean Woodberry, said it was no mean feat in the rough sea.
The cadets were Walton’s James Everett and Harry Slade, Clacton’s Ben Chandler and Colchester’s Josh Syrett and Glen Arrowsmith.
Mr Thurlow said: “The difficult bit was getting two waterlogged adults over the side of our boat. Our cadets responded really well – I am proud of their conduct.”
Anthony Mayhew of Thames Coastguard said: “The prompt and competent action by the Sea Cadet yacht did much to ensure the survival of the two casualties.
“It’s good to see young people act in such a professional manner.”
