GAME grannies are showing the youngsters they are the tops when it comes to computers.

When the Corner Lodge care home in Jaywick heard about grants to improve the quality of life for pensioners, they made a bid for money for a Nintendo Wii.

Residents are now showing their grandchildren they know a thing or two about the gaming world – and keeping fit at the same time.

The Wii system incorporates a hand-held sensor, which allows players to manipulate the actions of on-screen characters by making the movements themselves.

Home manager Pip Blackman said: “It’s extremely important for our residents to be stimulated and to have fun, which is why we chose the Wii."
