Garages in Essex are beginning to charge £2 per litre, as fuel prices continue to grow due to global conflict.
Diesel prices are starting to exceed the £2 mark across parts of Essex, with a Murco garage on Dunmow Road near Braintree currently charging 209.9p per litre.
This is the first time diesel has reached such levels since the fuel price surge in 2022.
Unleaded prices are also on the rise, reaching their highest point since September 2022.
According to the RAC, the average cost of unleaded now stands at 167.17p per litre, while diesel has climbed to 188.63p.
The fuel hikes come amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, where escalating tensions between the US and Iran have led to rising oil prices and supply disruptions.
These factors continue to push up costs at the pumps.
Despite the increases, some garages are still offering comparatively lower prices.
