A final night-time charity walk will light up the streets in support of hospice care.
St Helena Hospice's Midnight Walk returns for its last outing on Saturday, September 12, offering supporters one more chance to take part in the well-loved fundraiser.
The four-mile walk, which starts at 9.30pm, will begin from Stanfords in Severalls Industrial Park and pass by the hospice in Highwoods.
Ian Daniels, associate director of fundraising and marketing at St Helena Hospice, said: "We are excited to welcome this year’s Midnight Walkers on Saturday to our circus-themed event.
"We’re looking forward to a night of being together and supporting each other along the way.
"Our events raise vital funds for St Helena Hospice but we are guided by our community as to what events they want to take part in, and sadly it seems Midnight Walk has had its heyday as participant numbers have dropped over recent years, and this year has seen fewer people signing up in advance."
The event village, open from 7.30pm and sponsored by MHA, will feature circus performers, stalls, and a warm-up led by Clubbercise.
This year’s circus-themed walk encourages participants to dress in bright colours as they take to the streets in memory of loved ones and in support of the hospice.
The route includes a stop at the hospice on Barncroft Close, where walkers can pause to reflect and remember those who have died.
The Midnight Walk has been a staple of St Helena’s fundraising calendar since 2009, with a brief pause during the pandemic.
Mr Daniels added: "Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has taken part over the years.
"Why not join us this weekend to have a bit of fun and sense of camaraderie for our final Midnight Walk."
St Helena Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care and bereavement support across north east Essex, helping people with incurable illnesses and their families.
The organisation relies heavily on community support, with 80 per cent of its funding coming from donations, fundraising, and gifts in wills.
Supporters can register for a 'Midnight Walk Hero' ticket, which requires no sponsorship, until 11.59pm on Thursday, September 10, at sthelena.org.uk/midnightwalk.
Alternatively, walkers can register in person on the night between 7.30pm and 9.15pm.
