Colchester Castle will open to the public for free, as part of a national heritage festival.
The event, taking place on Saturday, September 12, is part of Heritage Open Days, which offers free entry to historic sites across the city.
Other participating venues in the ten-day-long national heritage festival include Hollytrees Museum, Jumbo Water Tower, the Town Hall, and the Roman Circus Centre.
No booking is required, but visitors are advised to expect queues.
The castle, located in Castle Park, will be open for visitors to explore for only one day.
