A COMMUNITY music event brought families, couples and even four-legged friends together for a day of entertainment.

The Rec Community Music Day took place on Sunday, September 6, at Old Heath Recreation Ground.

Residents, visitors and musicians gathered for the free event, which featured a range of live music from artists including Codi Rox, Runaway Bay, Bloom, No Idea, Snowbleed, and Kill Bosco.

The event is part of an initiative aimed at creating affordable community events to support performers, traders, and businesses in the city.

It was organised by the Rec Community Market, which hosts events for traders, food vendors and residents throughout the year.

A spokesperson for the Rec Community Market said: "This special event celebrates our first full summer of community events and is our way of saying a huge 'thank you' to everyone who has supported us throughout the year."

The day also featured a variety of market stalls, along with food, drink and ice cream vendors. Dogs were also welcomed alongside their owners.

A series of free family events at the Recreation Ground began on August 15 with a Community Sports Day.

It was followed by Folk on the Rec on September 5.
