A vegan and vegetarian restaurant is set to close its doors on Christmas Eve after four years of trading.
Patch, located on Trinity Street in Colchester city centre, will serve its final customers on December 24.
The restaurant opened in September 2022 and has become a popular spot for plant-based diners, but rising costs have forced the team to make "the right decision" to close.
A spokesman for Patch Colchester said: "After an eventful, challenging, and brilliant four years, we've made the difficult decision to close the doors of patch on Christmas Eve 2026.

"Despite growing trade, the continued rise in costs has made it impossible for us to continue.
"It is a sad decision, but the right one when thinking about our future."
The team praised their staff for their dedication and thanked them for helping create a welcoming space in the city centre.
They also expressed gratitude to their neighbours and supporters, including Colchester Makerspace and the Trinity Works owners.
"We’ve loved bringing you great service, amazing food and creating this safe space," the spokesman continued.
"We've welcomed first dates, birthdays, catch-ups between old friends, family brunches, community events, supper clubs, jazz nights, poetry evenings, and the rest.
"Patch has always been about more than food—it’s been bringing people together, celebrating local, being creative, brightening days, and trying to look after our environment."
Patch has received several accolades during its time in business, including recognition in The Good Food Guide and at the Colchester Business Awards.
The team said they have a full calendar of events planned in the lead-up to Christmas and encouraged customers to visit before the restaurant closes.
They added: "To our regulars and everyone who chose and continue to choose to spend their hard-earned money with us: thank you!
"We've got a chocca calendar of lovely things planned so do pop by to say hey, give us a hug and come enjoy all your favourites (while stocks last !)"
Since opening, Patch has served more than 87,000 hash browns, and will continue serving customers until 3pm on Thursday, December 24.
