Traffic in Colchester after A12 shut in both directions

DRIVERS are facing severe delays in and around Colchester after the A12 was closed in both directions.

Emergency services are on the scene of a police incident this morning on the A12 between junction 27 and junction 28, Colchester football stadium.

The A12 has been closed in both directions. Traffic monitoring systems are showing severe delays on both the northbound and southbound carriageways.

Motorists diverting through the city are experiencing an increase in congestion, including Ipswich Road, Via Urbis Romanae, and London Road.

Details of the incident have not yet been confirmed.

Drivers are also facing delays on Mersea Road this morning following a two-vehicle crash.

Traffic maps show a slight build-up of traffic in the area.
