A NEW survey has been launched to help shape the future of community transport services across Essex.
Essex County Council is inviting feedback from residents about the service, which supports people in accessing healthcare, shopping, employment, education, social activities, and other essential needs.
Designed for those who face barriers to using conventional public transport - such as disability, age, mobility challenges, or rural isolation - the service is an important lifeline for many.
Mark Webster, councillor responsible for highways and transport at Essex County Council, said: "Community Transport services provide a vital link for many Essex residents.
"They help people stay connected to their communities and access essential services.
"We are keen to hear from as many people as possible so we can understand how our residents are using these services and where we can make improvements to ensure these vital transport services continue to meet user need."
The survey is the first of its kind at a countywide level in Essex and aims to gather detailed feedback on user experience.
It is open to current and past users of community transport, as well as carers, family members and anyone interested in learning more about the service in their area.
Respondents can also find details about their community transport provider as part of the survey and provide feedback on the information and support available through providers.
The council hopes to use the findings to identify barriers to access, unmet demand, and opportunities to improve communication, accessibility and service delivery.
Results will inform future planning, service development and funding, with a view to measuring improvement over time.
The survey launched on September 1 and will remain open until September 30.
As well as capturing how the services are currently used, the council is also seeking to understand public awareness and future transport needs.
