Essex and Herts Air Ambulance called to action during visit

EHAAT was hosting a visit from Essex Freemasons, who are donating £10,000 to the charity which will be formally presented during October.

During the visit, the crew was suddenly mobilised for a live emergency.

Within moments, the helicopter was prepared and took off, demonstrating to visitors the urgency and impact of the service.

Elliott Chevin of Essex Freemasons said: "Essex and Herts Air Ambulance provides an extraordinary service to our communities and today gave us a real appreciation of both the people behind it and the challenges they face.

"We have enjoyed a strong relationship with EHAAT over many years and we are keen to build upon that, not only through charitable support but by creating opportunities for our members to better understand and engage with their lifesaving work."

EHAAT chief executive officer Mark Jarman-Howe and his team welcomed the Freemasons as part of a developing partnership between the two organisations.

The visit included a demonstration of the advanced medical interventions delivered by EHAAT’s critical care teams - until the demonstration was interrupted by a real emergency call.

The £10,000 donation is part of a broader programme of support from Essex Freemasons, who have backed EHAAT through provincial charitable funding and individual lodge contributions for many years.

Plans are also underway to support EHAAT’s Christmas fundraising campaigns and family events in 2027.

EHAAT responded to emergencies in multiple locations during the week of August 24, including Southend, Chelmsford, Basildon, Harlow, Halstead, Aveley, Colchester, Witham, Point Clear, Earls Colne and Great Waltham.
