A man in his 30s is in hospital with severe head injuries after a violent assault at an underground station.
The attack took place at Liverpool Street Underground station at 10.51pm on Sunday, August 30, on the Central Line platform.
A majority of Essex to London trains go to the station.
British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics attended the scene, where they provided emergency treatment before taking the victim to hospital.
Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn from BTP said: "This was a particularly violent attack that has left a young man with life-threatening injuries.
"Our investigation to identify and locate the person responsible is progressing at pace, and we are now appealing for the public’s help.

"Liverpool Street station was especially busy last night, with many people travelling to and from events across London.
"We’re keen to speak to anyone who was on the Central Line platforms between 10.30pm and 11pm and saw what happened."
It is believed the suspect boarded an eastbound Central Line train before officers arrived.
