Passengers travelling between Essex and London are facing disruption this morning due to a broken-down train.
Greater Anglia said the incident has blocked some lines through Gidea Park station, meaning services may be delayed, cancelled, or altered at short notice.
Disruption is expected to continue until further notice.
No Essex services had been cancelled at the time of writing, according to Greater Anglia’s live updates, but many trains were running behind schedule.
Routes to and from London Liverpool Street were seeing delays of around 15 minutes, while services from Southend Victoria, Colchester, and Clacton-on-Sea were delayed by about 12 minutes.
Several later services have also been amended:
- The 9.18 am London Liverpool Street to Clacton-on-Sea service will start from Ingatestone and will not call at Liverpool Street, Stratford, or Shenfield.
- The 9.36 am London Liverpool Street to Colchester Town service will start from Beaulieu Park, missing Liverpool Street, Stratford, Shenfield, and Chelmsford.
- The 10.18 am London Liverpool Street to Clacton-on-Sea service will start from Colchester and will not call at Liverpool Street, Stratford, Shenfield, Ingatestone, Chelmsford, or Witham.
Passengers are being urged to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
Greater Anglia provides live service updates online, while customers delayed by 15 minutes or more may be able to claim compensation through Delay Repay.
