Fire crews remain on the scene of a second fire in three days at the Middlewick Ranges in Colchester.
Around 30 firefighters were called to the site at 2.20pm (Sunday, August 2), after reports of them the blaze.
They advised people to avoid the area and residents, especially the Australian estate, to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
They have now provided an update on the blaze.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The fire is contained and under control. Firefighters will continue to dampen down hot spots.

"We will start to reduce the number of crews at the site shortly."
People are still advised to also avoid the area so our crews can work to get access to the incident, use hydrants and keep everyone safe.
They thanked people for their support.
Second fire in three days
On Friday, around 50 firefighters were at the scene of a fire in the same location.
People were advised to avoid the area as the fire service were using a lot of the surrounding roads to park fire engines and access water hydrants.
At the time, area manager, Dave Bond said: "Anyone in the area will have seen the significant amount of smoke coming from the fire at Middlewick Ranges, and we know many local residents have concerns.
"Firefighters have now surrounded it and are continuing to apply water to bring it under control.
"We're asking anyone in the affected area to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution. If you have any immediate concerns that the fire is threatening your home or business, please call 999.
"We currently have approximately 50 firefighters at the scene. We'd also like to thank local farmers who are providing water bowsers to support the firefighting operation – their assistance has been invaluable.
"We appreciate everyone's patience while we continue to tackle the fire and will keep the public updated through our website and social media channels."
