A teenager has been seriously injured in a park assault.

The 18-year-old sustained injuries to his chest in the incident, which took place at around 7pm on Friday, July 24, in the recreation park off High Street, Aveley.

Police have confirmed the victim is now in a stable condition after being treated in hospital.

Officers remained on the scene late into the evening to continue investigations.

Detectives are treating the incident as isolated, assuring the community there is no wider threat.

The police have appealed for witnesses to come forward, as they are aware a number of people were present during the incident.

They are urging anyone with information, CCTV, dash cam, or other footage related to the assault to contact them.
