The country’s leading mobility and stairlift retailer, Ableworld, is celebrating 25 years of helping people maintain their independence, with a series of customer events, special offers and community celebrations taking place across its nationwide network of stores.
Ableworld was founded after Mike Williams struggled to find a practical gift to help his elderly Father. Realising there was nowhere offering a wide range of mobility products that customers could see, compare and take home the same day, he opened the first Ableworld store in 2001.
Since then Ableworld has grown to 42 locations across the UK, becoming the country's largest mobility and stairlift retailer while remaining a privately owned business committed to delivering friendly, local service.
Over the past quarter of a century, thousands of customers have relied on Ableworld for expert advice and products that make everyday life easier, from pill cutters to mobility scooters, riser recliner chairs to adjustable beds, walking aids and stairlifts, in fact over 1500 products available, the majority to take away to help people live a more independent life.
Ableworld also offers several services included as standard, such as six month’s free insurance on Mobility scooters, riser recliner chairs and adjustable beds, together with free assembly on products where required. Customers purchasing stairlifts also benefit from a 24-hour emergency helpline – talking to a human being!
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Ableworld will be introducing exclusive in-store promotions, competitions and seasonal events designed to thank customers for their loyalty and support over the last 25 years.
The company has also continued to invest in expanding its range of British-made products, working closely with UK manufacturers to offer high-quality furniture and mobility equipment.

Responding to growing demand, Ableworld has also expanded its range of lightweight carbon fibre products, including rollators, mobility scooters and power chairs, making it easier than ever for customers to stay active while travelling or enjoying everyday life.
Alongside its retail stores, Ableworld's stairlift division has grown significantly and now provides installation, servicing and maintenance across the UK through a network of experienced, local engineers. The business continues to invest in training to ensure customers receive reliable, professional support from initial enquiry through to installation and aftercare. The past year has also seen Ableworld expand into new locations. A new store has opened at Fort Kinnaird Retail Park in Edinburgh, while the Colchester store has recently moved into larger premises, creating an even better shopping experience.
Despite increasing costs affecting many retailers, Ableworld has continued to invest in improving its customer experience through better technology, enhanced digital services and ongoing staff training.
